Who Is Colin
About my coaching approach:
Helping early and mid-career professionals find satisfaction, meaning, and progression in their personal and professional lives is the focus of what I do.
As a coach, I believe it's important to strike a balance between feelings and thoughts, emotions and reason.
I balance a calm, friendly, judgment-free approach, with an ability to be candid with you about your blind spots and your areas of growth. I take great effort to work with all clients to understand their goals and what they want to achieve from coaching. With my background as a teacher and an educator, I also employ strategies to help make positive change stick. Learn more about coaching.

Outside of coaching, I work at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, Canada. I manage a team that provides leadership development opportunities for students.
When I'm not working or coaching, you can most likely find me on a field playing ultimate frisbee. I've captained an ultimate team for nearly ten years, and well as served on the board of my local ultimate league. Beyond the obvious joys of chasing down a piece of plastic, I'm drawn to the sport because of its emphasis on "spirit of the game" - a sense of joy and respect for all players...something not unlike my philosophy as a coach.
I also have a love of music. In my twenties, I played in several bands, including Juno Award-winning Said the Whale and have music available on Spotify. I'm drawn to music because I love the feeling of creating something from nothing, and the sense of potential that I get every time I sit down to a piano.
